I read Twilight when it first came out and believe it or not, that was 14 years ago. I was a teenager who found the right book at the right time. It was when vampires were famous, remember Buffy and Angel? Twilight came way after that, but good-looking vampires who sparkle in the sunlight? Now, these were a different story.
Midnight Sun is finally out; it is a recent novel by Stephanie Myer, a continuation of the Twilight saga from Edward’s POV. It took the author a while to write it and publish it. All the teenage fans that we once where are all grown up now. Yet if you think for one second that we won’t pick up that novel and read it, you’re sadly mistaken. We might have grown from YA novels, yet recalling all those beautiful moments I had reading this series is something I would do all over again.
“About three things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him-and I didn’t know how potent that part might be-that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.”
Stephenie Meyer, Twilight.
It is finally the time where we would go inside Edward’s head and experience everything he couldn’t say. Remember, he didn’t talk much. Plus, I always wanted to know how it felt like to read minds. Jacob is cool all right, yet I am always on team Edward.
So, what makes Twilight so popular? I think it is the strong, captivating characters that attached us to them. Stephenie Meyer portrayed unreal and paranormal characters to everything a teenage girl wants to experience and live. Reading the Twilight saga was always an escape from reality, a dream where we would love to be in Bella’s shoes and be fortunate enough to have a handsome vampire and werewolf fighting for us.
I can’t wait to read Midnight Sun, especially before the movie comes out. Because we all know that the novels are always better than the film.
